About Volt Industrial Equipment

Some of life’s hardest moments reveal our clearest purpose.

In 2007, our founder, Channing Gardner, chose to leave a corporate career to build a more intentional life in Santa Rosa Beach, Florida—a place he first came to know and love as a child. Drawn by its natural beauty and tight-knit community, it became the foundation for a new chapter of his life.

Just a few years later, in 2010, the Deepwater Horizon oil spill upended that way of life. Crude oil washed ashore in his new hometown, staining the once-pristine white sands, boardwalks, and streets— Santa Rosa Beach/30A, once a thriving coastal community, became a ghost town almost overnight.

Oil companies had been drilling at unprecedented depths—over 5,000 feet beneath the Gulf. When disaster struck, there was no proven way to stop it. They were drilling beyond their competence, with catastrophic results.

Oil stained the beaches and crippled life along 30A and in Santa Rosa Beach. Families left. Businesses shut down. The town fell silent.

Our community was scattered, staying in touch from afar. It took years to return, to rebuild, and to restore the sense of connection that once defined this place.

That experience made a deep impression and inspired a renewed sense of purpose. It ignited a strong responsibility: to help reduce our nation’s dependence on oil, protect coastal communities like ours, and help safeguard the earth for future generations.

The Turning Point

Fast forward to 2024. While working on a home renovation project, Channing ran into a common problem: how to complete demolition work indoors without exposing his family or workers to toxic fumes or excessive noise from traditional gas-powered equipment. That search led to electric construction machines—and quickly revealed a much bigger opportunity.

Electric equipment is cleaner, safer, and more precise. But adoption was being blocked by real challenges: high upfront costs, concerns about runtime and performance, and widespread skepticism across the construction industry.

That’s when Volt Industrial Equipment was born—not just to sell electric machines, but to solve the real problems holding back adoption.

To eliminate 1% of global greenhouse gas emissions by 2040 by accelerating the shift to clean, electric construction—making sustainability the standard in construction.

Volt removes the barriers to adoption by delivering complete electrification solutions: purpose-built electric machines, easy energy-efficient charging, service and support, and the operational tools that contractors need to transition with confidence.

We’re a family-owned company, based in the Southeast U.S. Channing, Carly, and their daughter Lola Gardner proudly call Santa Rosa Beach home.
